What I Learned This Year – By W Artist , Taylor Sheridan.

We wanted to end our first year in business on a high note.  So, we asked our W Artists “What they Learned This Year “.   Each Artist has provided something a little different – a photograph that inspired them, a series of random inspirations that creatively fueled them or something that outright challenged them. Here’s our first post by W Stylist, Taylor Sheridan.

2011 has definitely been an unforgettable year. One of the most helpful things I have learned when it comes to the creative process is;  share, share and share.

Jim Jarmusch said it best..

“Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery – celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from – it’s where you take them to.”
-Jim Jarmusch

SHARING INSPIRATION

1.Pinterest-
The cool new ultimate tool in creating and sharing of inspiration boards. Inspiration boards are so much fun to make, and such a huge help when planning a photo shoot.

2.Blogging-
I have been blogging for as long as I can remember, and this year I discovered how much I really love Tumblr. It is the most blog friendly site, and one of the best places to get inspired by others. Not to mention all of the wonderful blogs out there that should be followed and reblogged!

3.Facebook-
I will be the first to admit that I was anti Facebook in the beginning. I am very happy to say that I have made the plunge and am loving catching up with old friends and seeing what lovely/sometimes not so lovely;)  things people are up to.

4. Instagram-
This Apple app is my new favorite. Although you need an iPhone in order to partake, once you do, you are hooked. Another social media platform for sharing photos where anyone and everyone is an amazing photographer. I think it is safe to say “instagramming” is only a few steps away from the powerful world of Facebook and blogs.
